Happy Insurance Nerd Day, my fellow aficionados of actuarial tables and risk assessments! July 18th is here, and guess what? It’s that one day of the year when I unabashedly flaunt my love for all things insurance, including, dare I say it, policy wording debates. (I know, wild, right?)
Now, many have bookshelves filled with thrilling novels or heart-wrenching memoirs. Me? I proudly display titles like When Words Collide by Bill Wilson. Just hearing that name sends a little thrill down my spine—much like how some might feel about a limited-edition comic or a rare vinyl record. And while I did once describe it as a “bit of an insurance nerd’s delight”, believe me, that was a serious understatement. It’s like calling the Super Bowl “just another game”!
In When Words Collide, Wilson goes deep into the art of clear communication within the insurance realm. It's kind of like having a translator for ‘insurance-ese.’ And, while some might snicker at my enthusiasm for such a topic, they’ve clearly never felt the pure joy of unraveling a particularly tricky clause in a policy statement. It’s akin to deciphering an ancient code, only with more premium calculations.
To all my fellow insurance nerds out there: Wear your title proudly! We’re the unsung heroes, ensuring that when life's unexpected moments occur, people are prepared. So, here’s to us, the ones who get excited over new policy updates and can’t resist a good insurance debate.
And to everyone else: If you ever need a riveting bedtime story, you know who to call. I’ve got a bookshelf full of recommendations, each more exhilarating than the last. Happy Insurance Nerd Day, everyone! 🤓📚🎉
